Community Theatre has been part of Sharren’s life for over 60 years. She just loves it! In the early 70s she focussed her study on teaching performing arts. During this time she landed a small role in the soap opera ‘Close to Home’, appeared in a couple of NZ films, toured the country in a travelling troupe of actors performing in schools, as well as treading the boards as often as she could.
Over the years she has performed in many plays and also directed school productions (many written by Sharren) and plays for Cue Theatre, New Plymouth Repertory Theatre and New Plymouth Little Theatre.
Sharren has nurtured young talent, having led two youth drama groups, and credits much of her craft and inspiration to the late Margery Webster and Derek Treeby. Her dedication and impact on the theatre community have been recognized with Life Memberships at both New Plymouth Little Theatre and Cue Theatre Inglewood, awards she cherishes deeply.
We are so excited to have Sharren back at LT to Direct HILDA’S YARD by Norm Foster. Tickets are on sale now, to secure yours head to: https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2024/jul/hildas-yard
